Butterflies:

I thought this was a good picture
to start the blog with this morning.
I hope that
you all have
a great weekend
and
lots of fun.
Stay safe out there!
That's an order!

Weather: Rain?

We are supposed to get some rain today.
Every time they've been saying that lately
it seems to miss us or we just get a light sprinkle.
Last Thursday
there was a good thunder storm.
We'll see what it is that we end up with tonight.
Reports vary from rain this afternoon
to rain late this evening.
So far ...
it's sunny!
As for me and Doug ...
we're hoping for a good rain for the crops!

Fallow Deer:

Went for a walk on the farm
with Doug ...
came across these cute little faces!!!!!

General: Anger Issues

Yesterday,
I got to the library before it opened,
so I turned around and went
to the nearest convenience store for
a cheese danish and a cream soda.
Seems harmless enough.

Well,
it came to $2.54 ...
I had a $1 bill and a $20 bill ...
Obviously I gave her the $20 bill.

She flies off into this rant
because it was only $2.54 and I paid for it with a $20.
She said that I was just trying to take all of her money.

Well,
I would have thrown that food right back
at her and taken my $20 with me ...
but ...
I was hungry!!!!!

So the guy behind me puts his coffee up there ...
it came to .69 cents ...
she yelled, "You don't have to pay for that with a $20!!!"
He just looked at her startled.

Needless to say ...
I'll be going back there A LOT
and paying with a $20 every dang time!!!!!!

Chandler:

There's my grandson Chandler!
He's a cutie too!
You see,
we can't have one of the grandsons
on the blog
and not the other.
Equal time!
Equal time!

General: You'll never guess ...

You will never guess what
I did yesterday ...
Oh come on ...
Got it yet??
Well,
I'll tell you.
I went to the tanning bed!
It was my first time to ever go.
I was afraid that I would feel to confined
and have a panic attack ...
but it all went just fine.
I was only in it for five minutes.
I have sensitive skin and five minutes
was my maximum time allowed.
It seemed to just fly by.
Am I tan?
No ...
but maybe I will be some day.

North Ely Opry: Happy Thursday!

Hey,
happy Thursday to you!
Since it's Thursday ...
that means ...
IT'S MUSIC NIGHT
AT THE OPRY!!!!
Yes,
I am excited about that!!!

Hunter:

There's my Grandson,
Hunter!!!
He is a real sweetheart!

News: Here's a Story for You ...

This is taken from the local paper where I'm from ...

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) —
Authorities were hunting Tuesday for a man who posed as a police officer
to assault two women a few miles outside West Plains in a mainly rural
county in south-central Missouri.

Howell County Sheriff Robbie Crites said the man used a red-and-blue flashing light
in his unmarked car and was wearing a blue uniform
when he stopped women drivers after dark
and attacked them in two incidents earlier this month.
The area is about 80 miles southeast of Springfield.

One woman reported she was raped
and the other was able to fight the man off, Crites said.

“We’re taking this very, very seriously,” Crites told The Associated Press.
“This guy is betraying the trust the public has in us,
and the nature of the crime,
actually attacking and unfortunately raping one female,
is as serious as we get.”

Howell County deputies,
the Missouri Highway Patrol and West Plains police are investigating.

Crites said about two dozen leads
have come in from the public
since his department released a composite drawing of the impostor Monday.

-------

How's that for scarey?
They say if you're ever in doubt to drive to the police station before you stop
or to call 911 from your cell phone.
But what if you're out in the middle of no-where?

Something to think about, huh?

Music: Singing

I spent a couple of hours
and reorganized my singing
notebook for singing in Clayton, IL.
I put a bunch of new songs in there
to go along with my other ones.
I've always kept my songs in alphabetical order before,
but now I do it differently.
I go through and pick the songs I want to sing that evening
and put them in the order that I want to sing them.
It sure makes things go a lot smoother for me
and
I always know what I'm doing next ...
I don't have to decide on the run.
Of course,
if someone makes a request ...
that makes it a little harder to find ...
but it seems to be working better for me this way.

Flowers:

Here are some pictures
of the Purple Cone Flowers
that I saw out at
Steyermark Conservaiton Area.

I thought that they were really pretty.

Doug, Farming:

There's Doug
out in the bean field.
This was discing and planting day for soy beans.

General: Taco Bell????????

You will never guess what we did at Taco Bell!!!
After a day of raking and baling hay ...
Doug and I decided to go to Taco Bell for supper.
Once we got there,
Doug decided to go through the drive-thru in reverse!
He drove through in reverse and I placed the order from my window.
I paid the cashier ...
she didn't even bat an eye.
I took the food from the second window ...
she just looked at us funny.
However ...
all of the counter help was giggling
and watched us back all the way out of the drive-thru
and leave the parking lot.
Let's just say ...
it was interesting ...
and we laughed A LOT!!!!!

Three Wheeler Ride:

Here are some views from the 3-wheeler.
It is so much fun
and very relaxing.

There are lots of farm fields

along the way.

This one got a little blurry ...

We were moving when I took this one.

Doug: Huh?

Okay,
which foot is bigger?

Horses:

It's been a while since I posted a horse picture.
Yes,
I am still in love with horses!!!!
Always have been ...
Always will be!!

I used to ride an appy like this one
and he bucked and kicked more than he didn't.
His name was Waldo
and he kept you on your toes,
that's for sure!

Three Wheeler Ride:

Went for a short three wheeler ride on Thursday.
I got to watch the sun set.
Literally.
I had never realized how quickly the sun disappears
once it is close to the horizon.
If you looked away just for a second ...
you actually missed part of it.
It was amazing!
I'd never seen a sunset like it before.
It took my breath away.

Buckles:

Do you have a picture of your favorite belt buckle?
This one isn't mine,
but I like the crafting skill involved in making this one
and the belt that went with it.

Makes me want to do some leather working!

Any of you ever work with leather?

General: Happy Tuesday!

Happy Tuesday to you all!
May this be the best Tuesday
in the history of all Tuesdays!!!
Wouldn't that be great????

North Ely Opry:

Had to end the day
with a picture of
The North Ely Opry
doing what we do best!!!!!

General: Hmmmm ...

I don't have any idea
what I'm doing this weekend.
I guess it will just be an adventure!

Oh, our band is playing
at the Illinois Veterans Home
for their Father's Day dinner.
That will be fun.

Har-Ber Village:

Here are some more shots
from HarBer Village.

They have all kinds of things there!

General: Ouch!

Yesterday
my neck and right shoulder
were hurting so bad that I could
hardly move!

Today,
I'm feeling much better!
Just in time too ...
this is a "fiddling" night!!!!

Family: A Visit

While on vacation,
I went to visit my
Aunt Jackie and Uncle Howard
for a few minutes.
I hadn't been there in ages!
And I hadn't seen them since my
Grandmother died last year.

There's my daddy Bruce!!!

There's Doug and my Mom!!!!

Music: Singing

Yesterday
I sang for an hour
and practiced my banjo
for half an hour.

The last time our band played
out at Clayton, IL ...
they were asking me
where my banjo was!

Practice! Practice!
I'll be ready for the next time!

Chandler: Grandson!

Here are a couple more pictures
of my adorable grandson,
Chandler!

Here he is reaching for me ...

Grandma ...

while I take his picture!!!

General: Happy Thursday!

Good morning!
Happy Thursday to you!

It's music day,
so that makes me happy!!!
North Ely Opry is tonight!
I've got my song book all organized
and ready to go!
I even made some sheets to pass out
so that people can request the
songs that they want to hear.
That should keep me on my toes!!!!!
Yikes!
Hopefully it goes well.

I hope that you all have a great weekend!
My love to you all!

General: Dang!!!!!

Well,
I was checking the shelves here at the library
for a book or two that I've been looking for
for a few weeks.
There it was!
I happily laid it in my arms and carried it up to the check out counter.
(Here's the "Dang!" part ...)
Not only did I not have my library card with me,
but in my haste to hurry and get here on time ...
I didn't even have my wallet with me!
Dang!
Sooooo ....
Drove home ...
got my wallet ...
and here I am ...
at the library ...
again!
But,
this time I get to check out my book!!!!!!
Horray!!!!!!

Time is up!

My time is up!
Must get going along this road that is life!
Hope there aren't too many pot holes in the road today!
Ha ha!
My love to you all!
Come back and visit again!

Carver: George Washington Carver State Park

Here are some of the
pictures that I took out
at Carver.

Here's one of the paths that we walked down.

It is just so peaceful here.

Family: Tony and Tina

There's Tony and Tina sitting outside on the back porch during dinner.
I really enjoyed getting to see them and the kids on our trip back home.
I miss my family.

Chris: Chris, Heather and Chandler

There's my son Chris and his family.
They are doing very well.
Chandler is just as cute as can be!!!!!!!
I love having Grandchildren!!!

Barns:

Now,
you all know that I collect pictures of barns.

But this one is special.

This one was built by my Grandfather and Great Grandfather.

The pictures don't do it justice.
It's huge!

It has a full basement underneath

that was used for milking the cows.

I didn't get to go inside of it,

but enjoyed getting to see it again

on our trip.

There is stands!

Jolly Mill:

Here are some shot of the dam at Jolly Mill.
I can hear the sound of the rushing water
when I look at these pictures.

It was so beautiful and peaceful out there.

I really enjoyed the trip.

General: Movies

Dirty Dancing ...
this is one of my all time favorite movies!
I hadn't watched it in a while.
Enjoyed it!

Another great movie.

Sure made me miss old Steve.

He was a very inspiring guy

and I miss him.

Good Wednesday!

Well,
here I am
on a Wednesday morning.

I hope that you all are well,
safe and happy.

The weekend is almost here.
Yes, I'm playing music this weekend too.
Playing a Father's Day dinner.

Keep in touch.
Have a great weekend.

Happy Tuesday!!!!

Well, I thought that I had my picture disk with me ...
no such luck!!!
Dang!

Oh well,
I can still chit chat!

I had a great weekend!
The band played Saturday night and all went great!
I sang my little heart out!

Went for a walk through Steyermark Park.
It was beautiful there.
We had read that there was an old barn and a spring house.
Found the barn ...
But no spring house.
Will have to research that a little further and find
out exactly where that spring house is.
It must be off the "beaten path" because
it was not visible from any of the paths that I was on!

Have a great weekend!

I hope that you all have a great weekend!
It's supposed to rain here,
but I'll entertain myself anyway!
Movies ...
sewing ...
teaching ...
music ...
playing marbles or cards with Doug ...
there's never a shortage of things to do!

Have a great weekend!

My love to you all!

North Ely Opry: Music Tonight

It's Ely Opry night!
I can't wait!
I'm ready to sing!

Last week I broke one
of my fiddle strings!
Dang!

And of course ...
I forgot about it until just now.
I may just have to change it when I get there!
Oh well!

Vacation Pictures ...

Okay,
I'm going to start on
some vacation pictures today.
These are just a few of them.
There are only three million!!!!!

Anyway, I hope that you enjoy them.

Har-Ber Village:

We went to Har-Ber Village,
in Grove, Oklahoma
while we were on vacation.
It's an antique museum
that you walk through.
They call it a village because
each set of items are displayed
in their own log cabin
and the cabins form the village.
It's a great place ...
