Hannibal Session: Music Monday!

Another music night has come and gone. Now I'm on the count down to Thursday!!!!!

We had a warm session in Hannibal ... either the AC wasn't cranking out like usual or it was just too darned hot for it to keep us cool. Aren't we spoiled??????

The players were Chris on tenor banjo... me on guitar and fiddle ... Joann on Irish whistle ... Beverly on mandolin and Irish whistle ... Dwain on guitar (and he broke another string this evening) ... their daughter played mandolin ... Andrew on fiddle ...Larry on fiddle ... Don on the bass (and I really liked having him at our end this time) ... Kevin on percussion ... Rob on percussion ... Tony on Irish whistle, flute and fiddle ... Lisa on fiddle ... Robert on fiddle ... Dave on guitar ... Dale on guitar ... Sarah on Irish whistle and bass ... Ian on guitar ... Doug on tenor banjo ... Ned on guitar ... Fred on guitar ... and Paul on flute and Irish whistle. We have three new guitar players whom I'm embarrassed to say ... I haven't got their names and faces together in my head yet. One is Mike ... he just moved to the area. The other two play the twelve string guitar and are a lot of fun to have in our circle. Beverly and Dwain had family in and their little grand children are SO cute!!!!

We missed Sondra (had comapny) and Phillip (working). Elizabeth ... where are you??????

Bill, Evelyn H, Evelyn and Bob, George, Noel and Mary Jo were all in the audience tonight. I missed Harry and Ellen. They don't miss a session very often.

It was a nice relaxed evening. I found myself in a guitar mood and took my guitar this time. I do that every once in a while. Anyway, I had a lot of fun and enjoyed listening to the music. I like playing the guitar because you can actually "feel" the rhythm. (or maybe that's just me) I had a blast although my fingers were sore by the time the evening was over. Of course, when it came time for "Chicken Reel", I found my fiddle to be irresistible and had to switch. There were a couple like "Red Wing" for one, that I also couldn't resist on the fiddle.

My guitar, Wilson, was very pleased to be out of his case and getting some much missed attention. I think he was saying, "Nanny - nanny - na -na!" to Suzie, the fiddle. He'd better behave himself! Hopefully she won't hold a grudge for long. I'm hoping that she will play with me later today.

As always ... please forgive me if I left anyone out. It's never intentional if I do. Blame it on memory loss! And I can always make "corrections".

Let's see ... two more days until La Gondola and Ely!!!!!

Can't wait!
